2023 TCGA Annual Letter From the President

Kyle Nedlik
TCGA President
March 21, 2023

TCGA Golfers,

We hope everyone has had a happy and healthy winter season as we make our way into Spring and the 2023 golf season. We wanted to take a moment to share with you the updates we were able to implement last year at the TCGA, along with a glimpse of our path forward this season and beyond.

Regarding our 2023 Board of Directors – I, Kyle Nedlik, will continue my term as TCGA President. Nick Barney will continue his role as Vice President and Web Administrator. Evan Sitts will continue in his role as Secretary, and Jeff L’Amoreaux will continue in his role as Treasurer. Matt Morley will continue in his role as Junior Tour Coordinator, working alongside Rob Mabee, who is continuing as our Junior Tour Administrator. Hugh Leonard and Jim Blodgett will also continue in their roles as TCGA Senior Tour Co-Coordinators. Michael Deuel of En-Joie Golf Club will continue as the TCGA’s PGA Advisor.

One new addition to the TCGA Board in 2023 is the position of “TCGA Women’s Event Coordinator.” Brittany Perkins will be stepping into this role, with the main objectives of her role being to promote the TCGA’s team and stroke play events to women competitors in our region through outreach initiatives, and assist in leading the first ever Women’s Division in this year’s Harding Brooks Insurance TCGA Amateur Championship. We are excited for the opportunity to provide an additional local women’s competitive golf opportunity through the addition of this division.

2022 recap and 2023 plans for the TCGA include:
• Creation of TCGA Women’s Division, logo, and creation of “TCGA Women’s Event Coordinator” board position.
• Continued growth of open division schedule into 2023 (Increase quantity of tournament, various formats, increased prize pools (including cash payouts adhering to USGA amateur rules), additional stroke play events from 2022, new late season match play event, updates to events based on member feedback in 2022)
• Re-securing of 4 main sponsorships in 2023
• Increased scholarship allocations, giving out a total of $1,500 total for three junior TCGA competitors through the Scoville-Meno TCGA scholarship program
• Growth in attendance in TCGA junior events, and addition of a free junior clinic
• 4 event TCGA Senior schedule, and continued inclusion of the Senior division in the Harding Brooks Insurance TCGA Amateur Championship
• Continuation of “Player of the Year” competition prize pool (Remlik’s sponsorship, 2023 will be third year of Top 10 receiving $1000 in gift cards, points system revamped on website)
• Harding Brooks Insurance TCGA Amateur Championship updates (continuing use of Golfgenius for live/online scoring, addition of first round cut in 2022, customized scorecards, Harding Brooks Insurance sponsorship renewal for third year, media coverage from multiple outlets, addition of a women’s division in 2023)
• Developing relationship with New York State Golf Association (NYSGA), potentially including increased use of Golfgenius for event registrations and scoring (details TBA)

We continue our investment in sponsorship outreach to assist in building funds to help bolster and expand the TCGA’s current and future programming. Thank you to our renewing sponsors to date: Harding Brooks Insurance Agency, Scoville-Meno Family of Dealerships, Remliks, and Ad Elements, for your continued support into the 2022 season. Other businesses interested in sponsoring, please reach out to [email protected] – we would welcome discussion on how our organizations could best partner.

In addition to our Website, our Instagram and Twitter pages, along with our growing Facebook group page (be sure to follow them!) will continue to be used to further distribute content and information, and promote events throughout the season for contestants. 2023 Season schedules for all tours are planned to be released within 1-2 weeks, with registration opening dates for our first few Open Division events on Friday, April 7th.

We welcome feedback and suggestions any contestants or member courses may have as we continue to strive to improve our events and programs for the season ahead. We look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve our area courses and contestants this upcoming season.

See you on the course!

Regards,

Kyle Nedlik – 2023 TCGA President
